Scientific Calculator

1/x is simply 1 divided by whatever x happens to be.

  • Enter 5 and then click on 1/x to get 1/5 = 0.2

sin, cos, tan, inv

The functions in trigonometry that deal with angles are sine ( sin), cosine ( cos), and the tangent ( tan).

  • If you're looking to calculate the sine of an angle that is 30 degrees wide, enter 30 before hitting the sin button. The answer should be 0.5.

inv

Also, there is the possibility of moving backwards. If you know that the sine or cosine, or tangent, you can find the angle in degrees to calculate that function. This is known as the inversion ( inv) operation. These are also referred to as arcosine, the arcsine and an arctangent.

  • Enter 0.5 to Click intov and then click the sin. The answer should be 30 (degrees) to answer.

There are two xy and x2

x2 refers to "x squared" or x 2. It could also be it is x times x or x*x.Clear allEnter 3 and click to enter x2 to generate 9. x^y means that x is raised to the power of. (You can also calculate the square root using xy using the formula y = 0.5.)

pi pi is the number 3.14159... used in a number of geometric calculations. It is more often seen being the Greek word p, but that may not appear in certain more recent browsers.ln ln is often referred to as the natural logarithm a number.
